Vaulters should wear comfortable clothes that can get dirty- leggings and t-shirts are perfect. If the weather is cold - sweaters, sweats over leggings, gloves, toques and coats. Vaulters typically wear soft soled vaulting shoes, dance shoes or ballets slippers but for a trial lesson, runners are perfectly acceptable. We do have a selection of shoes at the barn to borrow for class if needed, water shoes work well too. Bring a water bottle to class.
As helmets impede a vaulters movements and can pose a risk, they are not worn for the sport of vaulting as sanctioned by the governing body - Equestrian Canada. New vaulters will always start with safety lessons on the practice barrel first and once on the horse will begin at walk with a coach within arm’s reach.
